Star Trek: Conventional or I-Max?

OK, finally getting around to taking my husband to this movie for Fathers Day. It's a big deal as lining up a sitter is a challange. But we are all set! So I wonder-is I-Max really that much better? Are there drawbacks? Also, the Imax in Sacramento lets you choose reserve seats if you buy ahead. If we go I-Max, any tips on seating location? When we go to conventional movies, we usually sit center 2nd or third row if we can. Thanks!
