When do think that pop-culture became the defining influence of today‘s “progressive idealism”?

I feel that we should take some of the blame. If we were not in pursuit of money and possessions, we would have more time to be with our children instead of throwing gifts at them . They would have more parental guidance, and not have to look elsewhere for role models. This has been picked up by the media, hence magazines solely about the lives of so-called celebrities, that young people try to emulate.
