Stuck In Tomb Raider Underworld ?

I'm at the part with the Shiva statue in Thailand but before I collected the gems to put in the Shiva's hand I took the cage out underneath the platform and when I did that the statues hand rose and now I can't get it to lower so I can put the gem in it's hand! I think I'm going to have to start the WHOLE mission over again! What do I do to lower the Shiva's hand? thxs!
