Sharp twinges?

I am 23 weeks pregnant and getting sharp twinges in my l area. They last for about a second. Its so weird. Sort of like a small shock. What is that? Do I need to call my dr? I should also mention that there is no cramping otherwise or bleeding and the baby is moving around as normal. Should I be concerned? Isn't it too early for l pains?
