How do i burn a movie to my dvd rw?

i need help! please.... i downloaded a movie and now i want to put it on a dvd rw how do i do that i have to burn cds and dvds. the dvd is dvd rom is that why i can't use dvd rw i tried puting it with windows media player and it dosen't let me do i need another program?
