Do you think it's a good idea for school children to "pledge allegiance" to Queen and country every morning?

Or is this just another cheesy Americanism we feel the need to adopt? Is America such a good model anyway, don't forget the 1992 California race riots and ensuing killings. They may have a black man running for the Whitehouse, but rather than a cohesive influence, it seems to highlight the racial divisions still present in America.
